All about Acorns When you hear the term children's hospice, it's easy to think of a place where young people are sick and dying. But Acorns is a great deal more than that, providing a comprehensive network of dedicated care; not just for the children but the whole family; and not just for now but as long as needed. The children who visit Acorns are aged from birth to 19 years and have a life limiting condition. This means that they are unlikely to live to adulthood. A cure for the condition is not possible. Acorns care for life-limited children across the West Midlands, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, South Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire. Their three hospices offer respite, emergency and terminal care and their community team offers 24-hour support at home. They also provide special support for siblings and the extended family as well as bereavement counselling. All Acorns' services are provided completely free of charge. They are committed to working with families regardless of culture, race, religion, beliefs or individual circumstances. Acorns is about making the most of a child's life by offering support and palliative care which enhances quality of life. Acorns is a registered charity which relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and outside support. Since opening their first hospice in 1988, they have helped more than 1,100 families, but there are hundreds more who need the care that Acorns provides. The Three Counties hospice are looking for funding to refurbish the children's bedrooms, at £1,000 per bedroom. This will cover things like: bedside cabinet, blackout blinds (for children who need to sleep or rest during the day), curtains, bed linen, towels, duvet, pillows, redecoration of room, accessories such as pictures and vases. We would like to raise the money to sponsor the redecoration of 2 or 3 bedrooms. For information on our previous charity donations Click Here. To find out more about Acorns link
