2009/2010 Charity Sponsorship

Herefordshire Headway

For the coming year our chosen charity is Herefordshire Headway who promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and provides support and services to people with brain injury and their carers.

They do this by providing care and rehabilitation for adults with Acquired Brain Injuries (A.B.I.) whatever the cause.  Guidance, rehabilitation and support is given to persons who have either been involved in a traffic, industrial or sporting accident, been the victim of a serious assault, suffered a stroke, tumour or brain Haemorrhage, or major brain illness such as meningitis.  In addition, they offer advice and support for the carers of people suffering with A.B.I.

It is estimated that 450,000 people are living with a brain injury in the UK today.  The NHS has no remit to support people with A.B.I once the initial diagnosis and treatment is over, therefore it is left to the immediate family and voluntary organisations such as Headway to support and rehabilitate these people, in many cases, for the rest of their lives.

If you would like to know more about Headway, please view their website http;//www.herefordshire-headway.co.uk.

We are sure that you will support us in helping us raise money for such an excellent cause.

Over the years we have supported the following charities.
