Cider Festival 2004
Following the success of
the first Cider Festival last year (and again thanks to the generosity of Phil
Ballinger at the Yew Tree in providing the premises and the marquee) a second
Festival was organised by the Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry Company based at Broome
Farm on Saturday 4th September.
After the indifferent
weather in August it was a relief when the day dawned bright and sunny. As well
as the local Broome Farm products including Hilarys excellent cider cake,
visitors were able to sample a range of cider and perry from all parts of
Herefordshire as well as Chepstow, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Stourbridge and
Wales.

Throughout the afternoon
and evening live music was performed by a variety of local musicians (many of
whom have been known to partake of a glass or two of cider!). Highlights
included an excellent blues session from Toby Lovell on harmonica and vocals
with his friend Callum on guitar and the now traditional evening session from
the River Gypsies which got everyone up dancing.

Many thanks to John
Edwards of the River Gypsies who managed the music side of the Festival.
Judging by the number of
enquiries we have had regarding the date for next years Festival it would appear
that a great time was had by both the exhibitors and consumers!
